These comments
provide a brief glimpse into the lives of different
people and their own experiences in working
with the Toltec approach to life as
conveyed by Theun Mares,
as well as the books
by Theun Mares on the Toltec Teachings.

| About a year and a half ago I purchased a copy of Theun Mares' book
entitled Cry of the Eagle. At the time I was in a very stressful job
position that demanded a great deal of time and energy. When I started
reading and applying the principles from Cry of the Eagle, I found
that my approach to the job began to change and I was able to more
easily handle the daily pressures which had started to impact my health.
Since then, I've had a chance to read several of Theun's books (Return
of the Warriors and The Mists of Dragon Lore), and have found, for
the first time, a way of living which has truly changed my approach
to life. |

| I found a very clear, very well organized, very in depth study of
a vast body of knowledge that has since become my way of life. Return
of the Warriors provides a brief history of Toltec knowledge, and
of its evolution to its current form. The book also begins to impart
information to the reader in a structured manner that flows from one
concept to another. Each concept fills in more of the total picture,
and builds into a workable way of life. I am now into the third reading
of the book, and I find that there is level upon level of knowledge
here. Once you begin to practice the concepts the words take deeper
meaning with each new reading. If you have been looking for a no-nonsense,
practical system to aid you in finding meaning and purpose in your
life, GET this book and USE it. |

| In the fall of 2000 I traveled to upstate New York to attend a retreat
sponsored by Theun Mares. I did so in large part based on a series
of books he had written, the first of which,Return of The Warriors,
I had discovered quite accidently while casually browsing in a bookstore.
My first reaction upon reaching for the book was one of skepticism.
I read the first few pages fully expecting by built in crap detector
to go off, but it did not. Quite to the contrary, I left the store
with the book convinced that I had found what I had longed hoped existed:
an in depth examination of the the Toltec legacy. Mr. Mares writes
with a clarity and conviction that cannot be denied. There is a ring
of truth in these books that is very evocative, like an echo traveling
silently through time. I came away convinced that I had been in the
presence of one who knows whereof he speaks. This does not happen
every day. |

| I say, with all my heart, that Mists of Dragon Lore has been one
of the most important books that I have read. It has been, and is,
very instrumental in my life as I am discovering my full potential.
I have read the teachings and I am applying the principles covered
and, without a doubt, my transformation is directly proportional to
my living these teachings. This book is the quintessential manual
for anyone who is serious about waking up in this common dream and
"surfing life's challenges with skill and joy." |

| Before I read this book I had spent the past five years running
from responsibility and commitment. I thought that this escapist approach
constituted freedom. But, my unhappiness and lack of fulfillment left
me knowing that I was missing something crucial. This book threw light
upon my greatest fear of commiting myself to the females in my life.
It also, showed me that most men have this same fear, and that I wasn't
alone in my uncertainties and confusion. What makes this book fantastic,
is that it practically illustrates how we can transmute confusion
into self-confidence. It also teaches us how to constructively and
respectfully relate to females, to create joyfull and meaningful relationships.
This book is still changing my life. From being unfocussed and indulging
in helplessness, to now; feeling empowered by standing up for my belief
in my own self. It is the most helpfull and practical self-help book
I have ever come across. |

| From an early age I had struggled with an overly self critical and
destructive view of what it was to be a man. I had bounced from one
confusing experience to another, trying to fathom out from the disillusionment
some sort of meaning to what was happening in my life. So, when I
read the Quest for Maleness I could not help but feel that this book
had been written especially for me! Through sharing in his own experiences
and insight, Théun has guided me to my OWN realisations that
actually make sense out of all those conflicting thoughts and feelings
that were a constant disease in my life. |

Not some "pie-in-sky" theory but a here-in-the-now discipline,
a path, a way of life. Shows the reader how to handle everyday events
from life to gain knowledge that, step by step, progress you along
the Path of Freedom. Provides the tools to help you recognize and
break free from social conditioning. Shows you how to let go of
your self-view and world-view that keeps you trapped. Helps you
look at the small details of your life and your emotions to find
out what makes you tick and why. This book is all about putting
the techniques to practical use in everyday life - the beauty of
it is that everything you need already exists in your life - the
reader is simply given the means of working with the challenges
in his/her present life, right here, right now.
If you are serious about taking charge of your life instead of
allowing life to happen to you, and you are willing to roll up your
sleeves and do some hard work, Mr. Mares provides the tools for
gaining your freedom.
